Fashion Giant ShinWon Banks on Tech to Guarantee ‘Zero Claim’ Global Shipments
A major shift is underway in the global apparel supply chain, and it is being spearheaded by South Korean manufacturing powerhouse ShinWon Corporation. The company, a top supplier of knitwear and other garments to leading fashion brands worldwide, is doubling down on a proprietary technology designed to bring complete transparency to its complex, international operations: the RFID Tunnel System.
This isn’t just a simple inventory upgrade. ShinWon is embarking on a comprehensive rollout of its self-developed system to all of its global subsidiaries, setting a goal to eliminate packaging errors entirely and achieve what it calls “Zero Claim” status with its international buyers. The company aims to have the technology fully deployed across its vast network by the first quarter of next year, solidifying a new standard for end-to-end visibility from the factory floor to the final shipment.
The traditional fashion manufacturing sector faces persistent challenges. High-mix, low-volume production and massive global supply chains often rely on outdated, barcode-based systems that require extensive manual labor and can result in delayed, inaccurate data. The core of ShinWon’s solution is a compact inspection tunnel fitted with high-performance Radio Frequency Identification, or RFID, readers.
As cartons of garments pass through the tunnel, the intelligent system automatically and instantaneously verifies product quantities against the order specifications. This data is cross-checked in real time with the company’s broader Manufacturing Execution System, which acts as the digital nerve center for the entire operation, to generate accurate packing lists and ensure total alignment between the buyer’s order and what is actually being shipped.
The system is already delivering significant, measurable results. At ShinWon’s PT. Fashion Stitch Joshua production site in Indonesia, for example, inspection efficiency has surged by an impressive 32%. This facility now inspects approximately 1,740 cartons daily, equivalent to roughly 30,000 garments, and can simultaneously handle up to 2,500 cartons during multi-line inspections. To maximize production space, the company’s engineers even managed to shorten the tunnel’s physical length, boosting space utilization by more than 30%.
The global deployment of the RFID Tunnel System is a cornerstone of ShinWon’s broader digital transformation strategy. Peter Lee, manager of ShinWon’s Smart Engineering Team, has noted that this move represents a major milestone for the fashion manufacturing industry, significantly enhancing supply chain transparency and modernizing inventory management. By creating a robust, internal traceability framework, the company is not only strengthening its partnerships with global brands but also supporting a more sustainable and ethical fashion ecosystem through data-driven operational excellence.
With subsidiaries spanning key production hubs like Vietnam, Indonesia, Guatemala, and Nicaragua, this technological investment positions ShinWon at the forefront of the global movement toward fully traceable and highly efficient apparel manufacturing. The race for supply chain certainty is on, and this Korean giant is leading the pack.
