Suspect Arrested, Charged with Attempted Murder in Orlando Movie Theater Shooting
Orange County detectives have announced a major breakthrough in the investigation into a dramatic shooting incident that took place outside an Orlando movie theater last month. A suspect has been formally arrested and is now facing serious charges, including attempted murder, stemming from the late-night violence at the Epic Theatres at Lee Vista.
The man arrested, identified as Eros Romero, is currently being held without bail, according to law enforcement officials. His charges are extensive, including attempted murder, witness tampering, and multiple gun offenses, signaling the gravity of the allegations.
The case revolves around a chaotic evening that unfolded on October 20th outside the cinema, which is located off South Semoran Boulevard, just north of the Orlando International Airport. Orlando Police Department officers were called to the theater parking lot late that Monday night following reports of a shooting.
Investigators quickly determined that the confrontation that led to the gunfire was a “drug-related incident.” While one person was shot, police confirmed the victim’s injuries were non-life-threatening, and they were transported to a local hospital for treatment.
The events didn’t end at the movie theater, however. Authorities soon located the suspects’ vehicle, sparking an intense police pursuit across Orange County. The chase ultimately came to a chaotic end when the suspects’ car crashed into the side of a tire shop near the intersection of Lee Road and Wymore in Winter Park, approximately 15 miles away from the initial shooting scene. The suspects then attempted to flee on foot, leading to a brief but ultimately unsuccessful foot chase with officers.
While multiple individuals were taken into custody the night of the incident, officials have now highlighted the formal charges against Romero. The complexity of the investigation, spanning two major crime scenes miles apart, underscores the determination of the Orlando Police Department to bring the full weight of justice to bear in the case.
For area residents and nearby business owners, the incident was a shocking anomaly. One local salon owner noted at the time that despite the parking lot being a gathering spot for different groups, they typically felt safe, given that Orlando Police frequently patrol the area. This latest arrest aims to reinforce that sense of security for the community surrounding the bustling Lee Vista Promenade Plaza.
Romero remains in custody, and the investigation is ongoing as authorities continue to process evidence and prepare for the case to move forward through the court system.
